GEOS constructive testing

GEOS constructive testing is a Belgian laboratory, situated in Wellen, Limburg. It was founded in 1975 by geologist Erik Soers. His son Jan Soers took over the company in 2001. GEOS has clients in 14 different countries.
==History==
GEOS was founded in 1975 as an independent laboratory performing tests on building materials. In the same year, it was acknowledged by the Ministerie van Openbare Werken.
The testprogram, which expanded greatly in the forthcoming years, consisted of physical and chemical analyses on raw materials and finished construction materials.
Since mid 1980, GEOS started applying concrete petrography. This research technique revealed the presence of concrete damaging due to alkali-silica reaction for the first time.
In the beginning of 1990, the European Quality System for Laboratories was introduced in Belgium. In 1995, GEOS was part of the laboratories accredited by BELTEST.
In 2006 BELTEST was replaced by a new Belgian system of accreditations: BELAC.
In 2004, GEOS became 'notified body'.
